We think of ourselves as a small agency that offers big agency work. That’s because we only employ senior-level staff, people who have been around the block several times. They know the most efficient route. They know where the loose manhole covers and the potholes are, and they know how to avoid them.

Our people are interested in getting the job done to a client’s satisfaction and creating work that generates real results. In other words, we work together with our clients rather than against them. Because, let’s be honest, we’ve all seen
it happen the other way. As a result, you’ll have a partner who can provide solutions, respectfully disagree when we think it can help you, provide alternative solutions when necessary, and in general, act like reasonable adults…

…except during one of our bowling parties. Then all bets are off.

Geo Purdie & Andy Rogers, Principals
Geo (pronounced ‘Joe’) and Andy met each other in college at the University of Iowa in the ’80s. They went fishing in their free time, and for some reason, always caught bucket loads of fish when they fished at the same time. Noticing their success together, they hatched plans that eventually took them to Seattle. Now, after nearly 15 years of working together to build their agency, they’re proving they still complement each other well...which makes our clients infinitely more happy they showed up than any of those fish ever were.

Geo leads strategic direction and brand management for the agencys clients. Geo has more than 15 years of experience in marketing and advertising, and his knowledge of marketing strategy, budget analysis and product distribution channels has proven invaluable to clients.

Andy heads new business development for the agency and he oversees client and account services and media services. A veteran with 15 years of experience, Andy offers clients expertise in target audience development, customer retention and trade show marketing.

Jim McKellar, Executive Vice President
We’ve always claimed we get the best ad rates for our clients by developing fantastic relationships with building products trade publications.

Here’s proof. When Jim McKellar retired after 40+ years at, yes, McKellar publications, which published award-winning magazine Design/Build Business, he took a trip or two, poured a couple cold ones, watched the ceiling fan rotate a few thousand times, and then joined the Purdie Rogers team.

Now, why would he do that? Best we can figure, he believed all that stuff we were feeding him all those years. What’s nice is that Jim knows nearly everyone in the industry, which makes things happen for our clients.

In addition to leading the Los Angeles office for Purdie Rogers, McKellar continues to volunteer as the director of procurement for Give Kids The World in Orlando, Florida. The charity sponsors terminally ill children and their families from around the world to take a one-week trip to Disney World.

Rosalind Sciammas, Account Director
Roz is just plain bright. We know it, because we see her day-to-day working style and the value she gives our clients. We hope you’ll be convinced by her impressive experience. While working at DDB Worldwide in Seattle, she managed large, integrated accounts involving branding, research, print, broadcast, direct mail and Internet marketing. Her former clients include JanSport, RealNetworks, and Avenue A, which is a nice reflection on her.

Barb Modey, Director of Client Services
You’re part owner of a very successful agency in Portland, Oregon. Your name’s on the door. Where do you go from there?

In Barb’s case, she decided on a bit of a life change. So she loaded up the truck and moved to Seattle to become the Client Services Director at Purdie Rogers. We’re thinking she was trying to avoid another rainy Portland winter. She must have heard that song…the one about Seattle having the bluest skies you’ve
ever seen…

Shhh. We won’t tell her if you won’t.

Whatever her reasons, we’re absolutely delighted with her I-5 relocation and the expertise we’ve added to our roster as a result.

Barb brings nearly 20 years of agency experience to Purdie Rogers. During her career, she’s driven integrated campaigns for clients in categories such as energy and sustainability, healthcare, hospitality and tourism. Her specialty is in energy and sustainability, having worked with clients such as PacifiCorp, Pacific Power, Rocky Mountain Power, and 3 Phases Energy Services.

Britt Buesgens, Account Executive
Sometimes, in the right light, Britt bears an uncanny resemblance to that guy Radar on M*A*S*H. Except for the glasses. She’s taller, too. Looks infinitely better in dark green.

Ok, so luckily, there’s no physical resemblance.

Still, you might get a bright idea or realize you need information or think of some task that would help a project move faster and more smoothly. You ask Britt, and guess what? She’s already thought of it, already found it, already done it.

Is she prescient or a mind reader? No, thank goodness. She just works very hard. Must be a Midwestern thing.

After graduating with a degree in Marketing and Business Management, Brittany began her career in advertising at a Minneapolis-based agency. There she worked with clients such as H&R Block, Andersen Windows and Land O’ Lakes. She joined Purdie Rogers last year as an account coordinator and currently works on the Samsung and Johns Manville accounts.

Mindy Meyring, Public Relations Account Director
When it comes to public relations, Mindy is our star. She began her career in 1998 working on the national launch of the EPA’s Energy Star brand, helping to establish Energy Star as the household symbol of energy efficiency. From 2001 to 2006, she led integrated public relations efforts for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s statewide public awareness campaign to help New Yorkers become more energy efficient. She also led media relations for the Gill Foundation’s launch of a national civil rights public awareness campaign that won five Lions at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.

Adam Ganz, Public Relations Senior Account Manager
Adam watches the Speed Channel. Skis competitively. Races bikes and cars. Digs Formula One. See a theme here?

He likes things that move quickly, and as a result, he does so himself. That's obvious, given the huge amount of PR exposure he gets for our clients. He's also at work before most of us and is still there when we leave. However, given his outside interests, we suspect he doesn't leave home any earlier or get home any later than the rest of us.

Adam has six years of public relations experience at Imagio/J. Walter Thompson, supporting technology companies such as Cambridge Silicon Radio (Bluetooth hardware and software), Icebox LLC (Internet appliances) and Salton/Beyond (networked home appliances). He was also a senior account executive at Waggoner Edstrom, working on developer relations within Microsoft's Server and Tools business group and has done freelance public relations work for UpRoar Communications, Marketing Alchemist and Martin Levy Public Relations.

Jason Miller, Public Relations Senior Account Manager
Jason is our resident card-carrying new urbanist, master gardener, backpacking, fly-fishing, zucchini-bread-baking, writer/editor type. And when he's not doing any of the above, he's either writing in-depth case studies for our clients-or hauling up crab pots from Puget Sound. One or the other. He entertains us by bringing in award-winning dahlia bouquets from his garden, stuffing us with the aforementioned zucchini bread, and posting our most embarrassing quotes at his desk.

Jason came to us with almost 20 years of editorial and building industry experience. He's authored a couple books (with a third on the way) and he's on board to bring his passion and knowledge to our sustainable- and green-building clients, while helping us to expand into the rapidly growing market of new urbanism. And we weren't kidding about the new urbanism thing: That's his specialty, as he and thousands of other new urbanists seek to promote pedestrian-oriented, thoughtfully designed communities over placeless suburban sprawl. As editor of TNDhomes.com and three TND Series building plan books, Miller sought to bring good design to the masses. His most recent position, as editor of New Towns, found him serving as a liaison between professional new urban practitioners and the citizens they serve, communicating in plain English the power of well-designed neighborhoods and good urbanism at every scale.

Barnett Turk, Creative Director
A revelation came to Barnett as he explained an ad idea to his wife during dinner...after she signed a non-disclosure agreement, of course. On a piece
of paper, he’d drawn stick figures and scrawled a headline. His 6-year-old daughter looked at the picture and asked, “What’s that?” Without missing a beat, Barnett’s wife replied, “Honey, that’s what daddy does for a living.” Without missing a second beat, his daughter said, “Heck, I can do that.” We’d like to think not everyone CAN do that, but it’s a nice reminder that doing creative work is a gas and that we’re really lucky to be in this business.

With nearly 20 years of experience as a copywriter, editor and creative manager, Barnett is responsible for creative development at Purdie Rogers. Current and former clients include Sharp Solar, Johns Manville, Samsung Staron, Simpson Strong-Tie, California Faucets, Milgard Windows, Eddie Bauer, REI, Microsoft and Price Pfister.

Kris Nyström, Senior Art Director
We’re pretty sure Kris is of Swedish descent because that's where great design comes from...and because of those funny dots over the ‘O’ in his last name.
This fact is especially useful in Ballard where we're located. See, Ballard is the Scandinavian district of Seattle, where you can buy yummy liquified things that were once inside fish. Kris helps by translating, despite the fact he grew up in Idaho. Like the time an elderly woman walked by and said something like “Nuerven noovlin jvåelin.” Kris told us she said Andy is way too hard on us, that he should bring refreshments on Fridays and let us knock off early and that he dresses funny. Imagine the nerve.

Kris’ expertise includes art direction and design for brand identity packages, consumer brand advertising and web-based marketing. Current and former accounts include Samsung Staron, California Faucets, VisionArt, Johns Manville, Simpson Strong-Tie, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Enron, Adidas, Voice Stream, Iomega, Questar Telecom and Bank One.

Mike Schulze, Senior Art Director
Mike is a fan of international soccer (or football to anyone outside the United States). And thanks to a fast Internet connection and streaming audio, he can listen to teams like Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Mönchengladbach while he works. How does this benefit our clients? Because his timing is all screwed up! Consider that when he’s listening to the English Premier League, he’s 8 hours ahead. If he’s tuned into the Bundesliga (German professional league), he’s 9 hours ahead! Ok, so don’t follow the logic too closely, but he’s so far ahead
THE GUY NEVER COMES CLOSE TO MISSING A BLOODY DEADLINE!

Mike is responsible for creative development of corporate and brand identities, brand advertising, collateral and web site design. With Purdie Rogers, Mike
has created work for Sharp Solar, Johns Manville, Lasco Bathware, Simpson Strong-Tie, iFloor.com, Cedar Valley, Boise and Meeker Cedar. He also worked for agencies in Atlanta on a variety of accounts including Iceland Seafood, Tenneco Packaging and Dogwood Brewing Company.

Amber Hargett, Digital Production Artist
In the world of ad agencies, there's this GIANT misconception that you can get into the business by taking a job answering the phones.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! No, really.

Oddly enough, In Amber’s case, it actually happened.

How did such a bizarre, unlikely thing occur? Hard work, a continuing pursuit of work-related education, a willingness to take on any job to help out, good attitude….you know, all that stuff mom used to say.

Turns out she was right after all. Isn’t she always?

Vince Poon, Controller
Vince was living in California and not even thinking about living and working in Seattle. However, we knew that from the grapevine that he was the guy for the job. We heard he had agency experience, knew our accounting system and was a great guy. So we went after him.

He interviewed us, looked over our portfolio, checked our references and flew to Seattle to give us a look-see. After an exhaustive selection process and extensive deliberation, he gave us the job.

We called mom and told her the good news.

Shelby Erickson, Office Manager
When you call us, you’ll hear a very pleasant, professional and tolerant voice. That’s Shelby, our office manager. She’ll ask who’s calling because we get DOZENS of solicitation calls every day (that’s where the tolerant part comes in). In you’re a client, and she tells you one of us is not available, we really aren’t. We promise. We also promise to call back as soon as possible.

With her degree in Communications/Public Relations, Shelby frequently helps our Public Relations staff with client work. Based on the quality of her work and her desire to do more in public relations, we’ll have to start looking for a new office manager one of these days…
